About us

From the molecule to the finished product and its market launch, DITF conducts research and develops products along the entire textile value chain, always taking into consideration the corporate processes and business models. This makes Denkendorf a unique location world-wide for innovations in the textile industry.
Founded in 1921, the research center employs about 300 people on 25,000 m2 research and production area. The DITF conduct interdisciplinary research and development projects involving chemistry, material sciences, process technology, material technology, mechanical engineering and plant design and management.
The scientists utilize the latest findings in fundamental and application-oriented research for the textile industry, and set new standards with their own developments. This not only applies to products but also to production and analytical methods.

Products & Services

The DITF conduct interdisciplinary research and development projects involving chemistry, material sciences, process technology, material technology, mechanical engineering and plant design and management.

Fiber development

The core tasks of the DITF include research and development in the entire spectrum of polymer synthesis, fiber and yarn spinning and nonwovens, as well as new matrix materials.

This area covers all types of high-performance and specialty fibers, from bio-based fibers to carbon and ceramic fibers to special functional fibers. The DITF have the expertise and the technical equipment to further develop the common primary and secondary spinning processes as well as nonwoven technologies under ever new aspects and to bring forth completely new technologies. Filament yarn finishing, twisting and winding technologies, and broad-based research into package formation round off this expertise.

Sustainability

The core tasks of the DITF include research and development in the entire spectrum of polymer synthesis, fiber and yarn spinning and nonwovens, as well as new matrix materials

DITF researchers are working on sustainable products and concepts with function-plus. Intelligent integrated production concepts enable products with short, local supply chains. Smart textiles detect the environment and react to it in a targeted manner. Through integrated sensors and/or actuators, textiles help to save energy, optimize processes and extend product life cycles. They support people in their everyday lives and thus sustainably improve the quality of life. Examples include smart homes, smart neighborhoods and smart cities, living walls and medical textiles.

Digitalization

Sustainable digitalization is making its way into the textile industry and the DITF are at the forefront with innovative solutions to pave the way for the textile future.

In the future, only those who know how to successfully use and combine new digital technologies will be competitive. This includes, for example, the consistent use of digital engineering (modeling, virtualization) in development and production, familiarity with big and smart data, and a virtuoso approach to the Internet of Textile Things.
